Best value, not just best price.
How Fuelo works

How Fuelo calculates the best fuel options.

Fuelo compares more than the pump price. It estimates whether another option may provide better value by factoring in travel distance, travel fuel, total cost, usable fuel, and estimated range gained.

The basic idea

Cheaper fuel is not always the best deal if you need to drive further to get it. Fuelo estimates whether the cheaper price is still worth the trip, based on the search details you enter.

It looks at the selected fuel type, your fuel consumption, how much you plan to buy, and the estimated distance to each station. From there, Fuelo compares whether another option gives better value than simply choosing the lowest pump price.

Dollars vs litres

This setting changes the question Fuelo is answering. Dollars mode is about what you get for a fixed spend. Litres mode is about the cheapest way to buy a fixed amount of fuel.

FAQ

Why is the cheapest pump price not always the best option?

Because driving further to save a few cents per litre can use extra fuel. Fuelo estimates whether the saving is still worth the trip.

What does better value mean?

Better value means Fuelo has found an option that may give a stronger overall result than the cheapest option after considering pump price, distance, travel fuel, total cost, usable fuel, and estimated range gained.

Why do results change when I enter a different fuel consumption?

A vehicle that uses more fuel is affected more by distance. That can change whether a further station is worth visiting.

Does Fuelo include brand discounts?

Yes. When you turn on a brand discount, Fuelo adjusts the price and recalculates the result using that discount.

Are the results guaranteed?

No. Fuelo gives an estimate. Actual fuel use can vary depending on traffic, road conditions, vehicle load, driving style, and station availability.
